Identified Community Needs

• Need for family support – out of 3,765 households in the community, only 38 have both parents married to each other.
• Need for educational support – results for SOL testing are remarkably low in all schools in the target area. School violence is rising in all schools, including elementary schools.
• Need for safety and refuge – the crime rate for this community is more than three times higher than the national average. Personal crime is more than four times higher.
